AI images now fall back to another model when one is unavailable and show their progress on the canvas, image-to-template builds more editable designs, and credit balances no longer count expired credits.
This release makes AI image generation far more dependable and easier to follow, helps image-to-template build designs you can actually edit, and makes sure your credit balance only counts credits you can still spend.
If the image model behind a request is unavailable, or its provider is out of capacity, your image now moves on to the next available model instead of failing. You don't need to do anything differently, and you're never charged twice for the same image. When this happens, the Generate Image dialog tells you which model made your picture.
When the AI Assistant generates an image, a "Generating image…" placeholder now always appears in its spot on the canvas, including hero and section backgrounds. The AI Assistant panel shows how many images are still on their way, and if one can't be generated, it tells you why instead of leaving an empty space. The Assistant's own preview screenshots now include background images too, so it checks its work against the real design.
Building a template from a picture now produces a more faithful and more editable result. Backgrounds, decorations and foreground content are rebuilt as separate layers. Text is always kept as editable text rather than baked into image crops. Items that share a row can sit side by side, and a final clean-up pass fixes any slots that came out empty or failed, and replaces cut-out social icons with real ones.
Credits that have reached their expiry date are now removed from your balance and shown as expired in your credit history. Previously an expired balance could still be displayed and then refused when you tried to spend it. If you run out of credits mid-action, you now get a clear message instead of an error.

Pan and zoom feel smoother on large templates, AI Assistant previews and scrolling are more reliable, and deleting or archiving templates now works with integration exports.
This release makes the builder canvas smoother on large templates, makes the AI Assistant more dependable when it previews your work, and fixes several issues with deleting and archiving templates.
Panning and zooming the canvas now triggers far fewer re-renders, so moving around a content-heavy template feels noticeably more fluid.
We tightened up how the AI Assistant checks its own work. Previews now use a lighter screenshot mode, which avoids failures on large templates. If the preview service has a problem, the Assistant stops waiting right away instead of hanging. It also no longer forces a second preview attempt after one is rejected, and the chat transcript now keeps scrolling to the latest message reliably.
Deleting a template now works even when it is used by an integration export or a component, and archiving a template returns the correct result.

This release fixes an error page when switching teams from a project, speeds up home page images, and restricts the Import start option to admins.
This release fixes an annoying error when switching teams, makes home page images load more consistently, and tightens access to the Import option when starting a template.
Switching to another team while viewing a project used to land you on an error page, because the project didn't exist in the new team. You now land somewhere sensible instead, so changing teams is smooth from anywhere in the app.
All images on the home page now use our custom Image component, giving them consistent loading behavior and sizing across the page.
The Import option when starting a new template is now limited to admins, in addition to being behind its feature flag. Other members will no longer see it while it's still being rolled out.

The AI assistant can now ask you clarifying questions, edit images by component, and sample colors from images. We also pinned page headers and added the Shopify logo to linked teams.
This release makes the AI assistant more conversational and more capable with images, and tidies up a few places in the app.
When your request is ambiguous, the assistant can now pause and ask you a clarifying question instead of guessing. This is opt-in per prompt, so it only asks when you want it to.
It can also sample colors directly from an image, which helps it match your brand or a reference picture more accurately.
On the Projects, Project and Drafts pages, the header with its filters and divider now stays pinned at the top while you scroll through your list.
Teams linked to a Shopify store now show the Shopify logo in the team switcher, so they are easy to tell apart at a glance.
The assistant's question and element-measuring abilities are now controlled by feature flags instead of build-time settings, so they can be rolled out gradually without a redeploy.

A big release: image-to-template is rebuilt as a multi-step pipeline, the AI assistant can generate and edit images, new templates start from a first-draft composer, and billing handles Shopify teams and expired plans more gracefully.
This release rebuilds how the AI Assistant turns an image into a template, adds AI image generation and editing, gives new templates a simpler starting point, and makes billing smoother for Shopify teams.
Turning a screenshot or reference image into an email is now a multi-step pipeline: the AI classifies the image, copies the text and matches the layout, builds the template, and then resolves the images. Batch tools and layout fixes make the results noticeably closer to your reference.
Generate images right from the AI Assistant in a persistent thread dialog. You can edit a generated image, follow its history, request exact sizes, and rely on automatic retries when a generation fails. Admins can also set default image models.
The new template page is simpler, with a first-draft composer where you can pick a design system and export target, bring your own API key, attach files, and enjoy a new 3D logo scene.
Teams linked to Shopify now stay off Paddle and see a clear billing notice instead of a hard redirect. When a plan expires, the team falls back to the Free plan and the owner is notified.

Draft content now has its own shareable preview link, the Shopify embedded app gets a settings page and smarter design-system import, the AI Assistant composer was redesigned, and we fixed a backspace bug in the template editor.
This release gives the Shopify embedded app a round of polish, refreshes the AI Assistant's composer, and cleans up a few rough edges in the editor.
The Shopify embedded app got a new general settings page, smarter automatic import of your store's branding into your design system, and several reliability improvements when installing the app and connecting your store.
The AI Assistant's composer is now a single bordered field, replacing the previous layout for a cleaner, more focused writing experience.

This release adds a "Login with Shopify" option, gives the AI Assistant the ability to look up store products and collections, and fixes a handful of editor and blog bugs.
This release adds a way for customers to log in with their Shopify account, gives the AI Assistant the ability to look up store products and collections, and fixes a handful of editor and blog bugs.
The login page and the Shopify marketing page now offer a "Login with Shopify" option alongside email/password sign-in. It walks you through connecting your Shopify account and automatically sets up your account when you're done, so merchants installing the embedded app no longer need to create a separate password.
The AI Assistant can now look up a connected store's products and collections directly, making it easier to pull real product details and images into a template without leaving the editor.

Usage-based Shopify billing, a fix for a runaway AI Assistant attachment loop, search-then-read MCP tools that cut template token usage, and builder offline detection.
This release adds usage-based billing for the Shopify app, makes the AI Assistant more reliable, and speeds up AI-assisted work on larger accounts.
The Shopify embedded app now supports usage-based ("pay as you go") billing. Once a store's included credits run out, usage draws down from any purchased credit balance first, before falling back to Shopify's own billing.
Fixed a bug where the AI Assistant could get stuck re-reading the same large attachment over and over. It's now smarter about managing memory, and it no longer cuts off legitimate long-running responses too early.
The AI Assistant can now look up just the specific piece of a template or blog post it needs, instead of loading the whole document. This makes it noticeably faster on larger accounts.
The builder now detects when your connection drops and automatically retries any pending saves once you're back online.
